THE COMMON GOOD IN THE INSTITUTIONS
This article attempts to address the role or
purpose of the institutions that result in the
common good.
The common good is the expression of the
purpose or reason for being, of a specific
institution, that is, and therefore, that to
describe or know the common good of an
institution, it would be enough to express
its own purpose, that is, the reason for be-
ing. of the institution in question.
A fundamental issue is the consistency of
certain acts of the members of the institu-
tion for the common good. It is important
to mention that in addition to the common
good there is the individual good, so if an
institution functions according to the pa-
rameters and purposes under which it was
created, it should respond without hesita-
tion to the common good.
The norms that regulate the integration of
the individual good with the common good
of the institution can be distinguished by
the mode of participation of the members
of the institution, freely or not; and althou-

gh in freedom, they take refuge in said
norms to regulate situations arbitrarily or
partially, we violate the common good. In-
dividualism is incompatible with the clas-
sical notion of the common good, because
the end becomes the end of the individual
good and not the end of the common
good. Moral virtue must dispose us to the
common good over the individual good.
Although we know that individuals are the
architects of institutions, we also know
that the purpose of institutions (at least
the ones we are dealing with, ornithologi-
cal institutions) is the common good, not
the individual, it would be enough for that
to know the statutes and regulations, whe-
re without knowing all of them, we could
say without fear of being wrong that the-
re should be no rule where the individual
good is prioritized over the common good.
Although this seems a current issue due to
the world ornithological reality, this article
is not for the purpose of arguing, giving
names, putting exact quotes, or precise si-
tuation, it is only for the purpose of reflec-
